Here’s the cover to go with the previous post:
My book ‘Aliens’ marks a new departure for me. It’s an adult non-fiction about refugees in Britain during the Second World War. It’s out on August 22 and is published by Biteback.

Wonderful week in Italy with Equilibri and Hamelin between May 9th and 16th giving talks in schools and libraries. Also very excited to discover my Italian book Destini Incrociati, (Feltrinelli), which does not have a British publisher, came second out of 36 books nominated for the Hamelin Associazione Culturale Book prize. A big thank you to Gabriela Zucchini at Equilibri, and Nicola Galli Laforest at Hamelin, for inviting me over.
My Feltrinelli novel ‘Destini Incrociati’ has been shortlisted for the Xanadu/Hamelin prize. Here are some generous reviews from Italian teenagers:
Really looking forward to my trip to lovely Italy over 9th to 16th May, where I’ll be visiting schools and book awards in Carpi, Piacenza, Bologna, and Venice. I’ll be mainly talking about my two recent books ‘Bomber’ (publ. Equilibri) and ‘Destini Incrociati’ (Feltrinelli) and my other Italian books too. I’m very lucky to have my friends Jaya Giuditta de Concini and Barbara Servidori along to translate for me.
Excited to be invited to the Mare di Libri book festival in Rimini this summer. My event is at 3.00 on the Saturday. I’ll be talking about my Feltrinelli novel ‘Destini Incrociati’ among other books.
I am really pleased to say that my new novel ‘Destini Incrociati’ has been published in Italy this week by Feltrinelli. (‘Out of Nowhere’ is the English title.) It’s about four lives linked together by the V2 rocket, at the tail end of the Second World War.
Delighted to say my Bloomsbury Education book ‘The Great Revolt’, about the Peasants’ Revolt, has been shortlisted in the 10-13 category for the 2021 Historical Association Young Quills Book Award. I have an illustrated talk all raring to go, so please contact me via this site if you would like me to visit your school. Here’s a link to the Historical Association page and reviews by readers:
